Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) is an herb that has been used in Ayurveda for thousands of years. In Sanskrit, the word "ashwa" means "horse", while "gandha" means "smell". Ashwagandha is a small, evergreen shrub, low and squat with velvety leaves and bell-shaped flowers, bearing orange fruits, similar in appearance to small tomatoes.
