Baikal skullcap, called baicalin, reaches a height of several dozen centimeters and produces small blue-violet flowers. It owes its fame not to its aesthetic values, but to its exceptionally numerous properties.

Baikal skullcap grows in dry, sunny soils of eastern Asia. According to Far Eastern herbal traditions, the dried, crushed root of the plant is valued for its particular effectiveness. Its properties are mainly attributed to flavonoids - it is estimated that there are over 40 of them in powdered baicalein root.
