Clinging honeysuckle (Galium aparine L.) is a common weed belonging to the madder family (Rubiaceae). It is found in parks, gardens, thickets, forests, along roads and in fields. It is a lying or climbing plant that can grow up to 1.5 meters. Its leaves are clearly arranged in whorls of 8 pieces. As its common names suggest, it clings to clothing and animal fur thanks to the hooked hairs on its stems and leaves.

Traditionally, clinging clover is used in the kitchen because its young shoots are edible, and the fruit was once used as a coffee substitute.
